Toddler activities with paper

Paper is cheap, quiet and endlessly useful. Scrunching it builds hand strength, tearing it is a fine motor workout, posting it through a slot is early problem solving, and scribbling on it is the start of every letter they will ever write. The activities here all use paper in some form, from a roll of old wrapping paper to a torn-up envelope. Most need nothing else, or a crayon at most. Each one lists the steps, the skills underneath and a way to stretch it once the first version gets easy.
