Monster Dice Drawing
What you need
- a dice, or a small box with one to six dots drawn on its sides
- paper and crayons
How to do it
- Draw a big circle each for the monster's head, or let your child draw their own.
- Roll the dice and count the dots together. That's how many eyes the monster gets.
- Roll again for arms, again for legs and again for teeth, counting each roll and drawing that many.
- Put the two monsters side by side, count the eyes on each, and give them names.
Why it matters
The dice decides and they draw, so every monster is a surprise, and each roll is something to count before it becomes eyes or teeth.
What they're learning
- Drawing circles
- A closed round head to start from.
- Counting dots
- Each roll matched with that many eyes.
- Faces
- Eyes, a mouth and teeth, in the right places or not.
What to look for
Notice them counting the eyes under their breath as they draw them.
A tip
Give the monsters names like Wobbly Bob, and if one comes out too fierce, add a party hat.
Make it easier or harder
Easier: use a box with only one, two and three dots on its sides
Harder: roll twice for the eyes and add the two numbers together
