Water The Plants

What you need

• small watering can or cup
• indoor plants
• tray to catch spills

How to do it

1. Fill the watering can with a small amount of water.
2. Walk to each plant together and say its name.
3. Let them tip a little water onto the soil at the base.
4. Ask 'is that enough?' before moving to the next plant.

Why it matters

Caring for something that's alive and needs them helps toddlers understand responsibility in a way that clicks long before they can explain it.
