Sticky Note Peel
What you need
- sticky notes
- wall or table surface
How to do it
- Stick 4-5 sticky notes onto a low wall or table edge.
- Show them peeling one off with their fingertips.
- Show them pressing it back on somewhere new.
- Let them keep peeling and re-sticking on their own.
Why it matters
Peeling a note with just fingertips builds the pincer grip used later for turning pages and picking up food.
What they're learning
- Pincer grip
- Peeling with just fingertips is the exact grip used later for turning book pages and picking up small food.
- Fingertip pressure control
- Pressing the note back on without crumpling it teaches how much force fingers need — the same judgment used for petting an animal gently or handling a toy carefully.
- Spatial exploration
- Choosing a new spot to stick each note builds an early sense of space and placement, useful later for drawing within a page.
What to look for
Watch for them using just fingertips to lift the corner rather than swiping the whole note off with their palm.
A tip
Stick notes at their eye level, not yours — reaching up to peel one down is a fun bonus challenge, not a barrier.
Make it easier or harder
Easier: pre-lift a corner of each note so it's easier to grab
Harder: press the notes on firmly so peeling takes more finger strength
