Whose Place Is This?
What you need
- a plate for each person
- the table
How to do it
- Hand them a plate and say whose it is: "this one's for Daddy."
- Let them carry it to that person's chair.
- Go round the table, one person at a time.
- Finish with their own.
Why it matters
Putting the right plate at the right chair adds names to the job, so they're listening as well as carrying.
What they're learning
- Names and places
- Matching a person to a chair.
- Listening
- The name tells them where to go.
- Family table
- They know who sits where.
What to look for
Watch for them heading to the right chair as soon as you say the name.
A tip
Unbreakable plates and cups only, nothing hot, and no knives. Stay with them while they carry.
Make it easier or harder
Easier: do just two places, theirs and yours
Harder: let them tell you whose place is next
