Photo Hello Wall
What you need
- a few printed photos of family members
- masking tape
How to do it
- Tape the photos in a line along a wall at your toddler's eye height.
- Walk along the line together and say hello to each person by name.
- Ask 'where's Grandma?' and let them find her.
- Leave the photos up so they can visit them again.
Why it matters
Faces at their own height are faces they can visit any time, and saying hello to each one keeps the names fresh.
What they're learning
- Naming people
- Finding the right face for a name is naming the people in their life.
- Saying hello
- A hello for each face is practice for hellos in person.
- Belonging
- A wall of their people shows who's in the family.
What to look for
Notice them going to the wall on their own and patting a photo.
A tip
Masking tape comes off walls cleanly. Put the photos high enough that they can't easily pull them down and chew the corners.
Make it easier or harder
Easier: start with two photos close together
Harder: ask them to say something to each person, like what they did today
