Bubble Beard Faces
What you need
- a squeeze of bubble bath or mild soap for foam
- a small plastic mirror
- a sponge
How to do it
- Run a bubbly bath, then scoop up a handful of foam and give yourself a big, bushy beard.
- Let your child make their own: a beard, a moustache, a bubble hat or giant eyebrows.
- Hold the mirror up so they can see, and take turns guessing who they've turned into: a pirate, a wizard, a king.
- Wipe it off with the sponge and build a new face each time.
Why it matters
A mirror and a handful of soft, cool foam are enough for a whole cast of characters, from pirate to wizard.
What they're learning
- Squishy and light
- The feel of foam in cupped hands.
- Becoming someone
- A beard turns them into a pirate.
- Checking the mirror
- Is the beard on straight?
What to look for
Notice them telling you who they are before you guess.
A tip
Keep the water shallow and the foam away from eyes, rinsing with clean water if any gets in. Stay within arm's reach the whole time they're in the bath.
Make it easier or harder
Easier: you make the beards and they guess who you've become
Harder: make a face for a feeling, a happy beard or a grumpy one, and guess each other's
